New Delhi: From day-long kissing marathons to elaborate plans of marriage proposals, Valentine's Day or St Valentine's Day, named after one of several early Christian martyrs, is marked by romantic rendezvous and unbridled consumerism.Seven couples have brought their lips together in the Thai beach resort of Pattaya, some 100 km southeast of Bangkok, hoping to break the world record for longest continuous kiss - which currently stands at nearly two days. Recorded video messages are sent in the US to deployed soldiers as part of the "It's a Great Day to Love a Soldier" campaign thanking them for their service. All over the world sales of merchandise increases during Valentine’s Day as couples express their feelings through gifts, candies and flowers.
