Public protest on fuel hike

BANGALORE: Bangalore City Janata Dal (Secular) workers staged a protest in front Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) KR Pura ward office on Sunday on hike of diesel price by `3, domestic LPG by `50 per cylinder and kerosene by `2 per litre and pressed for its withdrawal. Bangalore city Janata Dal (Secular) party workers took out a procession here to protest against fuel price hike and revised price hike LPG effected by the centre and the steep increase in bus rates by Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) and Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC).They submitted a memorandum to the officials in the ward office condemning the fuel price and transport fare hikes.JD(S) part worker Krishnappa alleged that the BJP government and the KSRTC were putting people in hardship by charging more compared to other states in the country, Karnataka government is the only state which is charging high and not giving much subsidies. They said that prices of essential commodities are rising steeply and it’s difficult for the common man to lead a respectful life.
