CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government Wednesday appointed a one-man commission of inquiry to look into alleged irregularities resulting in a loss to the exchequer in the construction of the new secretariat complex here.Headed by retired Madras High Court judge S. Thangaraj, the commission will submit its report in three months.The commission would inquire whether there was excess expenditure causing loss to the exchequer, whether all statutory clearances were obtained and whether there was deficiency in the standard of construction.Construction of the new secretariat building was one of the pet projects of the erstwhile DMK government headed by M. Karunanidhi.
