THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: President Pratibha Patil arrived here on Monday for a three-day visit to the state.The special IAF aircraft ‘Rajdooth’ carrying the President, her husband, officials and a group of mediapersons landed at the technical area of the airport at 4.40 p.m. Governor R S Gawai, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Speaker G Karthikeyan, Revenue Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, Deputy Speaker N Sakthan, Palode Ravi, Mayor Chandrika, Chief Secretary P Prabhakaran and DGP Jacob Punnoose were also present at the airport. After exchanging pleasantries with the dignitaries, the President and her entourage left for Kollam in three helicopters by 5 p.m.The President will attend programmes in Kollam, Kottayam and Thiruvananthapuram during stay in the state. According to the itinerary, the President will stay at Hotel Raviz in Kollam on Monday and Tuesday. She will leave for Kottayam at 11.15 am on Tuesday by air and reach Kottayam at 11.50 am. After inaugurating the valedictory of the centenary celebrations of the Archdiocese of Kottayam, the President will fly back to Kollam at 1 pm and reach there at 1.45 pm. After having her lunch and taking rest at the hotel, the President will launch the President’s Trophy Boat Race at 4.30 pm. On Wednesday at 10.25 a.m. she will reach here and proceed to lay the foundation stone for the IGNOU southern regional campus at a function to be held at Kanakakunnu Palace. The President will leave for New Delhi at 12.15 p.m.
