New Delhi: During the second day hearing of her husband Pramod Mahajan's murder case in Mumbai, Rekha Mahajan on Thursday broke down in the court.

Rekha Mahajan burst into tears and fainted in the witness box soon after the Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam started questioning her on the fatal incident in her home on April 22 last year.

She started crying in the court of Additional Session Judge S P Davare, when asked what happened after murder accused Praveen Mahajan arrived at her home, but recovered soon, and replied she had gone to the bedroom to fetch clothes where she heard the sound of gunshots and came rushing out.

Recalling the nightmarish incident, she again broke down in the witness box and fainted. She was taken away by her relatives.

She, however, recovered soon after and was allowed to sit in the chair outside the witness box.

Judge Davare immediately directed the court staff to call for a doctor from the court's dispensary and adjourned the hearing till Friday.

Later, Rekha Mahajan informed the court that when her brother-in-law Praveen came to her Worli home on April 22, last year, she asked him if he would have a cup of tea, to which he replied in the negative. However, he asked for a glass of water.
