A leaked WikiLeaks cable suggests Chidambaram requested US authorities to get access to Headley even if just for appearance's sake.

New Delhi: Leaked WikiLeaks cable suggests that Home Minister P Chidambaram requested US authorities to get access to 26/11 attack suspect David Coleman Headley even if just for appearances sake.

In his conversation with FBI director Robert Mueller early this year, the Home Minister was adamant that Headley did not work alone.

"I have a feeling in my bones that Headley was not acting alone," Chidambaram had said.

Mueller is also heard saying that Headley was giving the US "the best information for months" on Pakistan-based terrorist groups.

The cables further reveal that although the Indian government was pleased with the level of cooperation with America, it wanted direct access to Headley.
