Syed Kareem and Irshad Begum, the parents of a 13-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped and had given birth to a baby in April, have written a letter to High Court Chief Justice (CJ) Vikramajit Sen alleging mental trauma and problems they are facing from some close relatives of the accused Syed Shakeel.
The letter, released by them to the media, claims that they are sending the complaint by post as the police officials are “not receiving the complaint.”
They alleged that their family members are getting repeated threats from Shakeel’s relatives Saleem, Halav, Takali and several other associates.
“We are ostracised from our community, there is a discrimination against our daughter by the school and we are being pressurised to get her married to the accused. Some members of the masjid committee of Ramachandrapuram and these close relatives of accused Shakeel and their several other associates have demanded us to get him freed and give our daughter to him in marriage,” they charged.
“Though we are illiterate, it is humanly impossible to give our daughter to the accused in marriage and welcome him into our family. We have rejected their demands. We have been ostracised from our committee and are not even going to the mosque,” they alleged.
The couple further complained that the relatives of the accused Shakeel troubling their day-to-day activities by not allowing any labourers to work for them in their shop.
“The City Corporation authorities have allowed a number of illegal constructions in the entire area, and they are advising us to yield to these demands. They are preventing us from getting our building repaired,” they charged.
They have also sent this letter to Karnataka State Commission of Protection of Child Rights and the City Police Commissioner.
Earlier, they had approached the High Court against the school for allegedly denying admission of their daughter into 8th standard. The court had directed the school authorities to readmit her to the school.
