Papa has nothing to do with 2G scam: Zoa Morani

Mumbai: Zoa Morani, who is making her debut with Always Kabhi Kabhi, says her father, Cineyug founder Karim Morani, who has been named in the 2G scam, is clean.

"Papa has nothing to do with 2G. He is just an ant in the whole scam. He did a business deal and got involved. He didn't even meet ever any of the people involved in the scam," Zoa told.

"He has all the paperwork which proves that ours was just a normal transaction. Things took a different turn... which he was neither aware of nor he's worried," she added.

Karim Morani is under CBI scanner for allegedly routing 2G kickbacks, from Usman Balwa-owned Kusegaon Realty to the Karunanidhi family-owned Kalaignar TV.

On May 3rd, the Delhi High Court dismissed Morani's anticipatory bail application, directing him to approach the Special CBI Court hearing the 2G matters.

On May 10, he was exempted from personal appearance in court.

"The court is listening to him because he's clean and has papers of what he has done," said Zoa, adding her her father has serious heart ailment and the family is worried about that.

"Papa got his heart attack when he was just 30. He had a second heart attack after that, and he had a bypass surgery and angioplasty. We were worried as he was in a big stress. He is careful about his health, but this stress might affect it, which is scary for our family," said Zoa.

She rubbishes reports of Karim Morani fleeing to London.

"He is very much in town and was never out of Mumbai. It was a false alarm that he has flown to London. He was travelling in India only because of his work."

The Zoa debut film is being made under Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment, which would also mark the directorial debut of well-known TV actor and Radio Jockey Roshan Abbas.
