PUDUCHERRY: A committee comprising members of civil society, knowledge institutes and government officials has been constituted to put in place a State Disaster Management plan (SDMP) for the UT.At the first workshop conducted by the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management on Friday, a base plan document was released and circulated among the members of the committee which was constituted during the workshop.This document will form the basis for the SDMP document and the committee will have its first meeting on May 5.Collector P Mathew Sammuel, who inaugurated the workshop, said that the State Disaster Management Plan would be a pilot programme for the whole country and was expected to set standards in this regard. Their objective is to integrate the disaster management programme into the development plan of each department.Several NGOs, resource persons and officials participated.
