Panel to execute proposals soon

KOCHI: A Budget Implementation Committee will be constituted by the Kochi  Corporation soon to make sure that the projects proposed in the budget are  implemented in a time-bound manner. Announcing the decision at a post-budget press conference here, Mayor Tony Chammany said the committee will consist of Corporation officials and various stakeholders.“The Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Standing Committee chairmen along with   representatives of various business organisations and residents’  associations will be there in the committee which will be formed by April first week. The committee will hold regular meetings, twice in a month,”  Chammany said. He said the Corporation had already urged the state government to consider  the allocation of funds for land acquisition to complete various projects under JNNURM. “The state government had already expressed its willingness to  help the Corporation,” he said.Prior to the ‘Emerging Kerala’ event scheduled to be held in Kochi this year, the Corporation will organise a ‘Development Summit’ in association with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
