Palmolein deal: High Court to pronounce judgment

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court will on Friday pronounce the judgment on petition filed by IAS officer Jiji Thomson seeking to quash a Vigilance Special Court order directing to inquire into the involvement of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in the Palmolein deal.Jiji Thomson, former civil supplies managing director, who is the fifth accused in the case, alleged that the vigilance court went wrong in suo motu directing to conduct further investigation in the case.The High Court had earlier stayed the probe order by the vigilance court, considering Jiji Thomson’s petition. Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan had then approached the court to vacate the stay order and submitted that there were attempts to sabotage the case. Alphons Kannanthanam, national executive member of the BJP, has also filed an impleading application in the case.
