ROURKELA: A team of Rourkela police detained two close relatives of Orind chairman Ravin Jhunjhunwala at the Kolkata airport and efforts were on to bring them to Rourkela. Those taken into custody on Friday night are Ravin’s father Jugal and his elder brother Surendra, both industrialists.Rourkela SP Himanshu Lal said they were detained as members of Orind’s board of directors. Legal procedures are being sorted out to bring them to Rourkela for further action. The SP claimed they were wanted in police complaints lodged by some of the employees at Lathikata police station.It was the second such high-profile action in less than two months. On September 12 police had arrested Ravin’s uncle Kashi Prasad, an industrialist, for allegedly duping employees of their statutory dues. Before that Orind’s Personnel Manager Bikram Keshari Parida, Finance Manager Purushottam Chomal and cashier Mahesh Sharma were arrested.Unpaid employees of the defunct refractory plant Orind at Lathikata here, now Shaswat International Ltd, have accused the management of duping employees of financial shares to the tune of nearly Rs 24 crore.
