KOCHI: The Ernakulam NIA Special Court on Thursday issued an open warrant against Abdul Sathar, sixth accused in the Vagamon SIMI secret camp case. Sattar has been absconding for the past four years. The NIA had issued a proclamation warrant and lookout notice against him.Judge S Vijayakumar passed the order while considering a request by NIA Special Public Prosecutor K N Ravindran. Meanwhile, the two other Indian Mujahideen activists - Mehaboob alias Malik and Shamseer, the 31st and 38th accused respectively in the Vagamon case, were produced before the court on Thursday. The court remanded them in judicial custody. The Test Identification Parade of the accused will be conducted in Aluva sub-jail.The NIA court had earlier issued a production warrant for the two accused who were in Madhya Pradesh prison. They were produced before the court under tight security. According to NIA, the duo were involved in the Manappuram gold robbery case. In the robbery, 13 kg of gold (worth about ` 2.5 crore) was stolen by robbers in broad daylight.The Vagamon case is related to an incident that took place in 2007 December when a camp was held at Vagamon, allegedly by banned SIMI activists. A case was registered by the Mundakkayam police on June 19, 2008. The case has a total of 43 accused including some foreign nationals.After the probe, the NIA filed chargesheet against 30 accused. PA Shaduli of Erattupetta, the prime accused in the Panayikkulam SIMI case, is the prime accused in this case also. The court then granted permission for further investigation against eight accused; following which Danish Riyaz, Mehboob and Shamseer were arrested. The NIA is trying to arrest the other five accused who are absconding. The court adjourned the case to January 24.
