Now a teacher demands apology from Woods
The teacher has refuted the golfer's account of racism in his portrayal of her in a book and film.

Los Angeles: Tiger Woods' kindergarten teacher is the latest woman to call a news conference challenging the golfer's integrity. Woods' kindergarten teacher appeared with celebrity lawyer Gloria Allred on Friday (April 2) to refute a recollection from Woods childhood.

In a book written by Woods' friend and former NBA star Charles Barkley, Woods recounts the brutal way he learned about racism on his first day of kindergarten in Cypress, California.

"I became aware of my racial identity on my first day of school, on my first day of kindergarten. A group of sixth-graders tied me to a tree, spray-painted (the n-word) on me, and threw rocks at me. That was my first day of school. And the teacher really didn't do much of anything. I used to live across the street from school and kind of down the way a little bit. The teacher said, 'Okay, just go home.' So I had to outrun all these kids going home, which I was able to do. It was certainly an eye-opening experience, you know, being five years old. We were the only minority family in all of Cypress, California."

Allred introduced Decker at Friday's news conference.

"Maureen Decker was a Tiger Woods' kindergarten teacher at Cerritos Elementary School in Anaheim, California from 1981 to 1982. From Tiger Woods first day on class to his last, Miss Decker, aged 69, was and is a widely respected teacher, who has taught pupils in grades K through four for approximately 24 years."

"When Tiger Woods went on the talk show circuit, I was shocked, saddened and disappointed by his false accusations of physical and racial abuse on his first day of school in my kindergarten class," Decker said.

During the press conference, Allred circulated a photo of Tiger's kindergarten class from the 1981-82 school year, featuring individual shots of 30 students, including a picture of Woods, who is shown wearing glasses and a light-blue sweatshirt.
