CHENNAI: The ‘Superstar’ is back in action and in a statement that will make his fans go wild, Rajinikanth announced that he has no plans of retiring from films any time soon. “As a hero my only talent is my speed on screen,” he said, paused, and in his inimitable style he continued, “And as long as I have that speed I promise I will keep on acting.” Appearing at a public event for the first time after his return from medical treatment in Singapore, a fit and trim Rajini also said that he had got his fill of taking rest at home, “After I fell sick, even I hoped to stay at home and keep resting. But it wasn’t possible,” he said. “I’m not Sivaji Ganesan nor am I Kamal Haasan. I cannot do character roles. I can only be a hero,” he announced to rapturous applause.Felicitating ace director SP Muthuraman as he received the seventh Sankara Ratna Award, on Saturday, Rajinikanth said that the director had been one of the major reasons for him to get back. “When I was sick, he pushed me to get back to ‘work’, “ he said explaining how he had done 25 films with the director.Muthuraman received the award from Sankara Nethralaya for his outstanding service to the people, through his films and philanthropy. He was felicitated by various cine personalities.
