NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday issued notice to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on the bail petition filed by Kanimozhi, daughter of DMK leader M Karunanidhi, in the 2G scam case.Justice Ajit Bharihoke directed issuance of notice on the petition filed by Kalaignar TV MD Sharad Kumar in the case. The judge also directed the investigative agency to respond by May 30 and asked it to file a status report detailing the stage of the investigation.Kanimozhi (43) moved the High Court on Monday challenging the rejection of her plea for bail by Special CBI Court judge O P Saini, and sending her to the high-security Tihar jail on May 20.Meanwhile, Judge Saini on Tuesday dismissed the bail pleas of Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Usman Balwa, his cousin Asif Balwa and their associate Rajeev Agarwal in the 2G case.While opposing the bail pleas of the trio, Special Public Prosecutor U U Lalit had submitted that Dynamix Realty, which is a partnership firm of Dynamix Balwa group of companies, acquired 49 per cent shares in Cineyug Films Pvt Ltd (held by Karim Morani) only subsequent to the transfer of the bribe money and they all were umbrella companies of DB Realty. “I have received a letter from the jail authorities that you were having a mobile phone. Why did you take the phone in jail?,” Saini asked Agarwal, who along with Asif Balwa, has been accused of facilitating a bribe of `200 crore to DMK-run Kalaignar TV Pvt Ltd.Meanwhile, Cineyug Films Pvt Ltd Director Karim Morani on Tuesday appeared before the Special CBI Court and filed his regular bail application, after the court had dismissed his anticipatory bail plea. Judge Saini listed the matter for arguments on May 26.
