Gurgaon Police is yet to nab the five people accused of raping a 21-year-old taekwondo expert for over six months.

New Delhi: Gurgaon Police said on Thursday they are yet to nab the five people accused of raping a 21-year-old taekwondo expert for over six months.

Police said teams had been sent to Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi where the five men could be hiding. "We have identified the accused and would be able to nab them soon," said Hanif Qureshi, senior superintendent of police, Gurgaon.

"We are raiding places where these men could be hiding. We are also searching their relatives and friends' homes," Qureshi added.

The woman had alleged in her complaint that her coach Subhash Yogi had raped her along with his brothers and friends. She also stated that Yogi had taken her photographs and was blackmailing her.

Police said that the woman was raped in Jhunjhunu (Rajasthan) where she used to attend taekwondo classes. She managed to flee in the first week of August and later registered a formal complaint on Aug 15.

Officials said that the woman had also alleged that Yogi, along with his three friends, had kidnapped her on Aug 10 from Gurgaon and raped her.

There has been an increase in the number of rape cases in the capital. In the past two years over 1,100 rape cases have been registered.
