A Nigerian national, who came to India on a sports visa to play Football and later turned into a drug peddler, was arrested by Hyderabad police in a joint operation with the Telangana Anti Narcotics Bureau (TN AGB) at Banjara Hills on Wednesday. Ofozor Sunday Ejike alias Frank is a chemical engineer from Nigeria.

Two other peddlers, 31-year-old Anas Khan and his brother 27-year-old Saif Khan from Rajendra Nagar, were also arrested during the operation. According to police, a huge quantity of drugs and other material, all worth over 1 crore was seized from the accused.

According to a TOI report, Frank, Anas and Saif – all drug addicts – used to procure different types of drugs from Nigerians residing in Bangalore and supply them to peddlers, their agents, and consumers directly. They were careful only to take payments in cash to avoid being caught, said Hyderabad police commissioner K Sreenivasa Reddy.

TG-Anti Narcotics Bureau officials assessed private de-addiction centres in the state. Recently, 26 de-addiction centres were opened in government hospitals, each with 10 beds in Telangana. TN AGB Officials stressed the importance of identifying teenagers using tobacco, liquor, and ganja early.
