Maintenance of National Highway from Cherthala to Karunagappally will begin on Tuesday.
PWD Minister V K Ebrahim Kunju has given directions in this regard, a release issued by the PWD said. The focus of the work will be the repair of the dilapidated National Highway stretch from Cherthala to Karunagappally, which has not been repaired for the last seven years. The work will be carried out on the 18- km stretch from Krishnapuram to Haripad. This is expected to cost Rs 13.72 core.
As much as Rs 2.6 crore has been earmarked for the repair works of NH from Haripad to Cherthala. PWD Minister informed that the department had sought a Central aid of `21.1 crore for the maintenance of the 28-km stretch of National Highway from Haripad-Karuvatta and Purakkad-Pathirappally.
The Minister also said that maintenance of NH would be completed in a month.
