BHUBANESWAR: A silver pheasant procured by the Nandankanan Zoological Park two days ago died in quarantine here on Wednesday. The Zoo had bought four pairs of pheasants from a Kolkata-based bird dealer along with a chattering lory and gold mantled rosella.“The dealer will have to give us another bird as losses are to be compensated as prescribed by the contract,” Zoo sources said. As per the contract, birds are insured till their stay in quarantine. It is only after the contract provisions are fully met that the Zoo will pay the dealer. Each pair of birds is bought at a price ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 22,000, sources added.
