Washington: India welcomed the US House of Representatives' nod to the Indo-US nuclear deal, saying it was a matter of great satisfaction.
National Security Advisor M K Narayanan, who is accompanying Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Washington, expressed hope the Bill would be cleared in the Senate and will not get pushed to the next session.
"I'm told they will get around it,” he said.
At a reception hosted for him by the Indian community on Saturday night, Manmohan Singh said that the Indo-US nuclear deal is in the interest of the India, the US and the world at large.
The news of the US House of Representatives passing the bill on the deal reached the venue when the PM was with the guests.
"We are really in the last stage of the historic step which enjoys bi-partisan support in the US Congress. It is good for India and the US," Indian Ambassador to the United States Ronen Sen said.
