CHENNAI: Noting that trees do not eat their own fruits and nor do rivers drink their own water, Manoj Kumar Sonthalia, Chairman and Managing Director of The New Indian Express Group of publications, said nature and wealth were meant for all and not for individuals. This was at the 39th Annual Day celebrations of Smt Durgadevi Choudhary Vivekananda Vidyalaya on Saturday. It was a special occasion because the event was organised by a school run by the Jaigopal Garodia Vivekananda Vidyalaya Trust (JGVVT) which believes that nothing in nature is for itself. “It was this idea that led the late Shri Jaigopal Garodia to form this foundation which runs 21 educational institutions today that impart education enriched by Indian values,” he added, calling these students lucky.“The school is guided by the teachings of Swami Vivekananda, who believed education should reach one and all. A person’s dignity rises when he is conscious of his inner spirit and education should help us realise this goal,” he said. During the annual day celebrations, class toppers and all-rounders of each class were given prizes, following which cultural events were held. Also present during the celebration were trustees of the JGVVT Hithesh Kannodia and PK Somanathan.
