PUDUCHERRY: Breaking his silence on the charges against his government, Chief Minister N Rangasamy on Tuesday accused minister of state for PMO V Narayanasamy of being a ‘stumbling block’ in the development of the Union Territory. Addressing partymen at the first anniversary of All India NR Congress, Rangasamy accused Narayanasamy of having done ‘nothing‘ for the UT. Narayanasamy was intimidating officials in the administration, affecting their work. Officials were hesitant in executing their work, resulting in delays, he said.Despite giving assurances of cooperating with the administration, Narayanasamy has never cooperated for good governance at any point of time, said Rangasamy. Instead, he has been pressurising and threatening the administration to toe his line, which became more prominent after he became Minister of State, charged Rangasamy. He was “misleading the people” by claiming that the second instalment of `75 crore cyclone relief has been released, he said. Rangasamy denied receiving any such amount. “Under which account it has come?“ he asked. Out of `125 crore interim relief, only `50 crore has been received by the UT government.Rangasamy said that Union government on the other hand had deducted `96 crore from its Central Assistance stating that the UT would not be able to spend it before the end of the current financial year. Refuting the criticism that cyclone relief has not been provided, Rangasamy said Puducherry government had already spent `54 crore for distributing relief.
