BANGALORE: With revenue soaring to 2.1 crore and with around 13 lakh passengers choosing to travel by Namma Metro, the operations on Reach 1 between M G Road and Byappanahalli complete one month today. Inaugurated by Union Minister for Urban Development Kamal Nath on October 20, the Reach 1 has seen a consistent average of 20,000 to 22000 passengers each day. October 23 saw the highest passenger count with the 6.7 kilometre stretch carrying 85004 passengers. The next stretch expected to be operationalised is Reach 3 between Peenya and Swastik. Reach 3 may be ready for passengers by 2013.With Reach 1 having raised the expectations of the people, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has a lot of work to do with the rest of the project. Currently, the organisation is plagued with pending clearances with the Railways and controversies surrounding the underground stretch.
