During his absence, Yadav handed his punch card to his friend Sushil, instructing him to mark attendance on his behalf.

A suspension has been handed down to a defense employee at the COD factory in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh after surveillance footage exposed an elaborate scheme to circumvent attendance regulations. Suraj Yadav, an employee stationed at the TMM office, had left for his village in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi to celebrate the holidays. During his absence, Yadav handed his punch card to his friend Sushil, instructing him to mark attendance on his behalf.

Sushil complied, punching Yadav’s card both in the morning and evening while Yadav continued his holiday at his village. The attendance manipulation at the factory persisted for two full weeks, not just two or four days as initially thought. The deceit came to light when an officer required Yadav for a special task. The officer became suspicious when Yadav failed to respond to multiple calls.

Upon reviewing the attendance records, the officer discovered that although Yadav was officially listed as on duty, he could not be found anywhere in the factory despite a thorough investigation. This led to the revelation that Yadav was actually on holiday. Finally, Yadav’s lie was uncovered after CCTV footage revealed the manipulation, leading to his suspension.

During the investigation, CCTV footage revealed key details of the attendance fraud. While Yadav was absent from the footage, his friend Sushil Kushwaha was repeatedly seen handling Yadav’s punch card. The situation was further exposed when officials caught Kushwaha in the act of using the punch card again the following day. As a result, Kushwaha has also been suspended, and a notice has been issued to Yadav regarding his involvement in the fraud.

Sources at the COD factory report that while a punch card system was implemented, biometric attendance was not enforced, leaving the system vulnerable to exploitation. This oversight has allowed instances of employees leaving the factory after punching in their cards without actually working.
