After witnessing excess downpour, monsoons have now slowed down in Madhya Pradesh with only 2.6 mm of rainfall registered in the state . So far, 807.3 mm rainfall has been recorded across MP, which is 498 mm or 62 percent more than normal.
Over 1000 mm rainfall has been registered in eight districts of the state including Hoshangabad 1248 mm, Sagar 1229 mm, Harda 1085 mm, Vidisha 1081 mm, Narsinghpur 1065 mm, Guna and Raisen 1008 mm each, Indore 1009 mm, Bhopal 953 mm, Damoh 962 mm, Mandla 939 mm and Betul 951. In Khandwa district, 101340 cusec water has been released from five gates of Omkareshwar dam and 100422 cusec water from 12 gates of Indira Sagar dam.
So far, excessive rains have killed 52 people and 229 cattle besides damaging 9336 houses in the state.
