New Delhi: With assembly elections not far away in Jammu and Kashmir hit by flood, the Centre on Monday announced the setting up of two bio-technology parks and a most modern weather forecasting system in Jammu and Kashmir.
Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh said the government will set up biotechnology parks in different parts of the country and two of them will be in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference to highlight his Ministry's 100-day achievements, Singh, who represents Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir, also said the Department of Earth Science will also set up most modern weather forecast equipment near the Mata Vaishno Devi temple.
The tenure of the current Jammu and Kashmir assembly is expiring on January 19 and parties are gearing up for next polls.
BJP is trying to expand its base in the state where two regional parties--National Conference and PDP--are the major players.
