Model Engineering College bags trophy

KOCHI: Model Engineering College (MEC), Thrikkakara, stole the show at ‘Sargam-12,’ the five-day-long youth festival of Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat). MEC bagged the overall trophy with 208 points.Archana M Nair of College of Engineering (COE), Kidangoor, Kottayam, won the ‘Kalathilakam’ title.This final year student of electrical and electronics has won the same title at the CBSE state-level youth festival for four consecutive years.She also won the title at the last ‘Sargam’ youth festival.N V Sumesh of Cusat main campus bagged the ‘Kalapratibha’ title.Sumesh is doing MPhil in Life Sciences and has also won prizes at Calicut University D Zone, inter-zone and BEd inter-collegiate and schoollevel festivals.School of Engineering (SOE), Cusat, with 176 points bagged the second place and Cusat main campus won the third place with 116 points.Cusat main campus bagged the first place in the drama contest.Laksmi Menon of MEC was declared the best actress and Sreejesh B Panicker of Cusat main campus was chosen the best actor.Henna and team from SOE, bagged the first prize in video choreography.Ajithlal of TISC, Kochi, won the first place in cartoon drawing.Jessin Philip of MEC won the first place in poster drawing.Kithu Anna Mathew of COE, Kidangoor, was placed first in ‘Mappilappattu.’ Reshma C V, TISC, Vallanad, bagged the first place in collage making.SOE won the first place in ‘Oppana’ (male).Angel Ann Mathew of Cooperative Medical College was placed first in short story writing (Hindi) and Sashank of SOE won the first in essay writing (Hindi).Yashwant of MEC won the photography contest.Greeshma R Nath of College of Engineering, Munnar, bagged the first prize in fancy dress competition.‘Sargapratibha’ titles were given to candidates who scored the highest points in each category.V i c e - C h a n c e l l o r Ramachandran Thekkedath presented the rolling trophy to MEC at the valedictory function held on Monday.Around 3000 students from 28 colleges across the state participated in 65 events
