Saharanpur: Darul Uloom Deoband on Saturday said that Indian as well as foreign educational institutions have strictly prohibited the use of mobile phones in classrooms as they "adversely affects" the standard of education.
Not only Darul Uloom, but multimedia phones are banned in every educational institute, officiating VC of the Islamic seminary Maulana Abdul Khaliq Madrasi said.
Madrasi said that Delhi University, JNU and many universities in UK and USA do not allow students to use multimedia phones in classrooms as the devices "adversely affect" education standard.
People visiting temples, gurdwaras, churches and mosques are also asked to switch-off their mobile phones so that none gets disturbed while praying, Madrasi said.
Students who live away from their homes can use feature phones to stay in touch with their families, he said. "Students come to educational institutes for studies. If during checking multimedia phones are recovered from their possession, then disciplinary action would be taken against them," Madrasi said.
