BHUBANESWAR: It was a starry nite that marked the Kaa Sanskriti Samman-2011 here on Saturday.   While the event saw participation of  who’s who of Ollywood, various personalities from different spheres of art, literature and culture were felicitated on the occasion. The oldest and the most respected Odissi dancer Dr Minati Mishra (75) was conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award - for   popularising the dance form. On the occasion, Mishra said art in any form is the reflection of a  culturally-rich society. “To master in any field one needs to be completely dedicated towards it. And I do feel immensely  satisfied and happy to be recognised for my work towards Odissi. For any performing artiste, awards are an inspiration to do a better job in the field,” the danseuse said.Earlier this week, she was chosen for the Padma Shri award for 2012.Kaa Samman was also conferred upon 15 more eminent personalities in various fields for their artistic excellence.  Prominent among them are Ajay Swain (fiction), Bijay Satpathy (drama), Ramahari Jena (painting), Ratikanta Mohapatra (dance), Dhaneswar Swain (Mardala exponent), Susant Mishra (art films) and Shantilata Barik (singer).The nite began with scintillating dance ballets by artistes from Srjan, city-based Odissi training institute. This was followed by performances of Ollywood actors Anu Choudhary, Archita and Sabhyasachi who mesmerised the audience with their hit Odia numbers. Singer Kumar Bapi and Sailabhama Mohapatra also performed. The event had a heavy dose of laughter with Pappu Pom Pom amusing the crowd with his  jokes.
