It’s her third visit to Chennai, and she hasn’t signed a Tamil film yet. Meet model-turned-actor Evelyn Sharma, a German model who is currently doing three Hindi films — Isaaq, From Sydney With Love and Yeh Jawani Hai Dewaani. “As a model I travel all over the world and fitness is my priority. I always hit the gym wherever I am,” says Evelyn.
Entering movies was a personal choice for Evelyn, who has an Indian father and a German mother. The actor’s middle name is Lakshmi.
The young model is looking for the right script in Tamil to prove her potential.
“I did get some good offers in Tamil, but I couldn’t take them because of my earlier commitments. But I’m always willing to act with any handsome actor in the Tamil industry,” she says.
Evelyn is good friends with director Shankar and actor Vikram. Now that makes us wonder if she will be roped in for their next project together. A birdie tells us that the actor is likely to sign on the dotted line for two Tamil films, which will commence later this year.
Evelyn’s first Hindi movie From Sydney with Love, is scheduled to release soon.
She says, “I can’t explain my role in the movie. You need to watch the film to understand the complexity of my character.”
However, the actor has no qualms talking about her second movie, Isaaq, opposite Prateik. “It’s an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and I play Rosalia, the first love of Romeo. I play a foreigner who is attracted by the spirituality of India,” says Evelyn. In her third film, Yeh Jewani Hai Dewaani, Ranbir Kapoor is her co-star and her role is bubbly, she says.
