TALCHER: The Mahanadi Coalfields Limited, the coal supplier to Nalco, has refuted the charges of the Navratna company that its profit nosedived in the second quarter due to less and poor quality of coal.Speaking to mediapersons here on Tuesday, MCL Director (Finance) Kulamani Biswal rejected the charges. He said, “at no point of time, the aluminium company had raised any objection on the quality of coal at the joint committee meetings.”Further, the Nalco has been supplied adequate coal as per its linkage demand for the first six months of the current financial year, he added. “If some thing adverse happened then it must be due to Nalco’s internal problems like rise in input cost and agitations by the affected villagers. We must not be blamed for any setback in Nalco as MCL offered them to lift any quality coal as much as it can from its pitheads that are only 15 km away,” he maintained.
