CHENNAI: Councillors belonging to the DMK staged a walkout during Wednesday’s Corporation Council meet after an AIADMK member abused Subash Chandra Bose, the party’s leader in the Council.The expletive hurled at Bose came even as Mayor Saidai S Duraisamy was attempting to stop making a statement of his own instead of discussing the tabled items. DMK members immediately jumped out of their seats and left the chamber after a noisy argument with the Mayor.Soon after they left, the Mayor took his own partymen to task, dressing them down for their behaviour in response to their DMK counterparts. He warned them that the rules of the Council were the same for members of all parties, and that the AIADMK members must learn to respect the conventions of the Council. “They just want it recorded that the Council did not function in peace. Why do you give them such opportunities. They are going to walkout anyway, that has been their practice. If you all behave yourselves then they will have to walkout for no reason. So stay seated till I give you permission to speak,” the Mayor told his partymen.
