Congress vs BJP on Ujjain rape case

The incident triggers a war of words between the Congress and the BJP as the opposition party trained it’s guns over the “deteriorating law and order” in the state pointing out that the crime took place in Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s constituency.

Lok Sabha LoP and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said on Friday that the brutality against women is a “blot on humanity”, asserting that “propaganda-centric” governments have given birth to an insensitive system of which the biggest victims are women.

“The brutality against women in Ujjain and Siddharthnagar is a blot on humanity. The continuously increasing crimes against women and the attitude of the police administration towards the victim and her family is proof of the cruelty of the system and is a matter of serious concern for the country,” Gandhi said in a post in Hindi on X.

Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari has questioned the silence of key political figures, including Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

State BJP President VD Sharma said the Congress party was politicising the incident. “Congress party has no issues to corner the Madhya Pradesh government and that’s why they try to give such a tone to the incident… The BJP government is the first government to introduce a law to give the death penalty to the perpetrators of these kinds of incidents… The accused has been arrested and the state government will ensure that strict action is taken against them,” Sharma said.
