New Delhi: Should the odd even scheme in the national capital become a monthly feature? A resounding 74% people polled by Local Circle say no while 65% say they'll buy a new car to beat the rule. Why is the car rationing scheme losing steam in its second phase?
The results also show how intentions and perceptions have changed between January, the first phase of odd even, and now in April, during the second phase.
As much as 42% of the respondents had said in January that they would buy another car if the odd-even rule was regularised, roughly the same as those who said no. But when the question was put to the people in April, a huge 65% said yes, which is a jump of 23%.
While 58% of the respondents said no in January to regularisation of odd-even plan for 15 days every month, the figure went up to 74% in the second phase of the scheme in April.
Several members of Parliament, including those from the Congress as well as the BJP, have also protested against the odd-even scheme in the last three days as the second half of the budget session began.
