Mumbai: The Maitra family is in a state of shock and has been avoiding talking to the media about Bibek, who died because of an overdose of cocaine in New Delhi.
Late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan's trusted aide Bibek Bimen Maitra was brought dead at 0300 hrs IST on Friday.
Mahajan's son Rahul is currently recovering in the Apollo hospital.
The two had apparently consumed a deadly cocktail of champagne and cocaine at a late night party at Pramod Mahajan's Delhi residence with three guests.
Maitra's parents, who are in their sixties and his younger sister, are staying in the Kharghar area adjoining Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation.
His father Bimen Maitra is a retired IPS officer from Kolkata, who later served as the Chief Security Officer at Godrej.
When the news about their son's death came in, Bimen Maitra told the media that Bibek had told them he would come back after immersing Pramod Mahajan's ashes in River Brahmaputra.
Bibek, 38, had been working with Mahajan till the latter's death.
The BJP has deputed a party corporator from Nerul, Bharat Jadhav, to look after the family.
"Bibek's parents are not in a state to talk to anybody and I request the media to speak to me for any information and not bother them," said Jadhav.
Meanwhile, BJP office bearers and friends of the Maitra's are waiting for the arrival of Bibek's body from Delhi.
Party sources said Bibek's body would be received at the airport and then taken to Kharghar.
