A man in Punjab’s Faridakot was arrested after he attempted to impersonate his girlfriend to appear for an exam, the police said. The images of the man dressed as a woman in the exam hall went viral on social media.
The young man, who has been identified as Angrez Singh from Fazilka, was appearing for the exam of multi-purpose health workers held by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, at DAV Public School in Kotkapura on January 7.
In order to impersonate his lover, the man was dressed up in a Salwar suit and adorned himself with red bangles, a bindi, and lipstick.
According to the police’s preliminary probe, accused Angrez Singh made all the efforts to impersonate his girlfriend and also used fake voter and Aadhar cards to prove he was Paramjit Kaur.
The plan, which otherwise seemed foolproof, was ruined until the man failed to clear the biometric test and his fingerprints failed to match those of the genuine candidate on the biometric device.
According to an NDTV report, the actual candidate, Paramjit Kaur, Singh’s purported girlfriend, had her application turned down by the administration.
The man was immediately taken into custody by police and the real candidate’s form has also been rejected by the administration. A case has been registered against the accused and further investigation is underway.
“We received a complaint from Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, and we are currently investigating the matter. We will take appropriate action after completing our inquiry,” Faroidkot SP Jasmeet Singh was quoted as saying by India Today.
