Former Bihar chief minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav will appear before the Enforcement Directorate on Monday (January 29) for questioning in connection to the alleged land-for-job scam.

Lalu Yadav reached the probe agency’s office in Patna around 11:00 am. His daughter Misa Bharti and her husband also accompanied the RJD leader to the probe agency’s office.

Addressing media on the summons, Bharti said, “This is not a new thing. This greeting card is being sent to those who are not coming with them. Whenever any agency calls our family, we go there and cooperate with them and answer their questions.”

A team of ED officials from Delhi reached Patna late on Sunday evening to question the RJD leader in connection with the case. “The Patna team along with the Patna ED director and ED team from Delhi can question Lalu Yadav at around 11 am,” sources privy to the development said.

ED on January 19 issued a fresh summons to fo Yadav and his son Tejashwi Yadav in connection with the case. The summon notice was physically handed over by ED at former CM Rabri Devi’s residence on 10 Circular Road in Patna and asked both the RJD leaders to appear before it on January 29 and 30.

Later on January 27, a Delhi court issued a summons to former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi, her daughters –Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav– and others in a money laundering case pertaining to the alleged land-for-job scam matter.

The court asked Rabri Devi and her daughters to physically appear before it on February 9.

ED recently filed its first charge sheet in connection with the matter of which the court took cognisance. Amit Katyal, who is allegedly a close associate of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad’s family, has also been named along with some companies in the charge sheet.

Katyal was arrested by the probe agency in a money laundering case. Sources said that the fresh summons to RJD leaders have been issued on some information shared by Katyal during the investigation.
