KOCHI: The Kerala Water Authority (KWA) has initiated repair works on the damaged pipeline in Njarakkal. The damaged pipeline had intensified the problem of water shortage in the area. The pipeline under the Kuzhupilly bridge had broken almost two weeks back. Njarakkal Panchayat members had held a protest at the KWA assistant engineer’s office on Monday and were given a written assurance stating that the issue will be solved by Monday midnight. However, the work could not be completed on time owing to practical difficulties, KWA officials said. “The work began on Monday evening and continued through the night. However, the work could not be completed owing to the high tide. Now, the work is progressing speedily and will be completely as soon as possible,” said KWA officials. “We waited for over a week after lodging the complaint but when there was no action, we did not have any other go. Although the work has not been completed on the said time, we understand the practical difficulties and are ready to wait for a day or two,” said Njarakkal panchayat president Jude Pulikkal.
