KOCHI: Karthick R, a final year student of Computer Science and Engineering, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kozhikode, won the finals of the MobME CodeJam Contest and bagged the prize money of Rs 1 lakh. The CodeJAM online contest is aimed at hunting the smartest programmers on college campuses in the state. The online contest was launched on June 16 and had initial participation from over 1,000 engineering college students. At the end of the contest, the company offered jobs to three contestants, including Karthick. The online CodeJAM contest was held for a fortnight. A programming puzzle was hosted in a specially crafted web portal at 11 pm each night for 14 consecutive nights. A cash prize of Rs 1,000 was announced for daily winners during the period. The final was conducted live in Kochi.Participants had the flexibility to code in five different computer languages—C, PHP, Python, Ruby or Clojure.“We got an opportunity to identify some great talents in programming and interact with them through this contest. The first edition of the contest was a success and we are planning to make this an annual affair,” said MobME CEO, Sanjay Vijayakumar.
