'Killer' Blueline bus claims yet another victim

New Delhi: Yet another accident involving a Blueline bus in the Capital. A 45-year-old man was killed in an accident in Punjabi Bagh area on Thursday. Eyewitnesses say two buses were racing, when one of them hit the man on the road. The victim died on the spot.

More than 60 people have died in Delhi this year in accidents involving Blueline buses.

On Wednesday, a 40-year old doctor, P K Mallik, was killed when he was trying to cross a road. He was run over by Blueline Bus No 534, which runs between Mehrauli and Anand Vihar. Mallik was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Victim’s brother Swapan Mandal said, “The bus behind us was overspeeding when it tried to overtake it hit us and ran away.”

Far too many incidents have taken place in the Capital lately. Police had arrested a fifth man in connection with the road rage murder in the capital on Tuesday.

A 35-year-old property dealer, Jeetendra Singh Powar was assaulted by five men after his car brushed against a motorcycle near Mehrauli in New Delhi.

Police say the men followed Powar, beat him up with a baseball bat, smashed his face with a stone and crushed his head using a concrete flowerpot. Four men have already been arrested in this connection.
