The fourth annual children’s parliament concluded on Thursday, here at the Church Park School campus.Held between December 27 and 29, the Tamil Nadu- Puducherry State Children’s Parliament saw the “ministers” presenting their achievements during their term in office. The elections are held once a year and representatives from each district are elected through a ‘sociocratic’ method.A speaker, prime minister and ministers for various ministries are selected. In an interaction with the media, the newly-elected representatives answered questions clearly with a poise that belied their age.Speaker of the house, Muthu Selva Ganesh, said that the current children’s parliament would present a list of 30 requests to the State Government.“We hope to meet the Chief Minister and speak to her personally regarding these issues,” he said. The ‘ministers’ too were well-versed in the action they would be taking in the coming year.
