BANGALORE/NEW DELHI: In its latest schedule, Kingfisher Airlines has made a promise to operate 120 flights with 20 aircraft from a limited number of destinations, asking its staff to stay at home from the non-operational bases. The airline has stopped flights from Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. From Bangalore it will offer connections to Delhi, Goa, Hubli, Jammu, Mangalore, Mumbai and Pune. Kingfisher has curtailed flights to the eastern region from the main hub of Kolkata. The airline will however operate flights from Delhi to Guwahati and Imphal. Other important bases where it stopped flights include Hyderabad, Patna and Lucknow.Flights from Chennai include Bangalore, Mumbai, Tuticorin and Port Blair. The Kingfisher spokesperson said it was a “holding plan” which was subject to change depending on recapitalisation and return to full utilisation of the aircraft fleet.“In this ‘holding plan’ we have taken adequate care to ensure that part of our core inter-metro schedule is retained, while connectivity is maintained to many cities where we are the sole operator,” the spokesman said. While promising a schedule integrity, Kingfisher is keeping skeletal staff in bases that it has stopped operating. This was to help passengers who were previously booked and will be assisted with re-booking or processing refunds.“Since we could resume operations after getting re-capitalised, most staff here have been asked to stay at home whilst remaining on the company’s rolls,” the airline said.
