BANGALORE: Land developer and co-producer of unreleased Kannada film ‘Veerappan Attahasa,’ V Srinivas, 42, shot himself on his right temporal region and ended life at his plot in Lakshmipura near Byalalu under Tavarekere police station limits in Ramanagaram district on Saturday evening.Though police suspect that depression could have driven his death, it is said that he had an illicit relationship with a ‘close family member’ and this might be the reason for his suicide.However, the exact reason is yet to be investigated.Srinivas owned Sai Shree Group, a land development firm, in Jayanagar IV Block. He was also the co-producer of the Kannada movie ‘Santosha'.According to the police, in the afternoon, Srinivas had dropped his wife and mother to a bus stop near Moodalapalya Circle, as they were going to Lakshmipura on some work.Soon, he went to his in-laws house in Maha Ganapathi Nagar in Rajajinagar Industrial Estate, where he resided, and informed his daughters and in-laws that he was going to Mysore on work.While leaving, he carried his licenced revolver, a family member said.It is said he visited his elder sister Manjula before heading to Lakshmipura.“Around 7 pm, he called his business partners Jagadish alias Ravi and Babu, and asked them to come to Lakshmipura.Though they denied as it was already late, he reportedly forced them.When Ravi tried to contact Srinivas, his phone was switched off.However, Ravi and Babu reached the village around 10 pm and found Srinivas lying in a pool of blood.They informed his family members and the police,” police said.They added, “He had parked his Mercedes Benz car (KA-51-MM-101) on the road and has walked to the field.The scene of crime suggests that first he slept and pointed his revolver at his right temporal and opened fire killing himself instantly.As it was pointblank range, the bullet has not exited from the other side.“His wife Rekha stated that he was under depression for the past two years, but did not share anything with her.She added he used to consume sleeping pills every night as he was suffering from insomnia.His family members said he used to carry his revolver only when he went out of the city,” police detailed.SP of Ramanagaram district, Anupam Agrawal, told Express it was a clear case of suicide. “Ballistic experts have opined that it is a suicide and chances of murder have been ruled out.However, the exact reason for the suicide will be known only after investigations.Srinivas was married to Rekha 12 years ago and the couple had two daughters, Sanjana, 9, and Shalini, 5.Post mortem was conducted at Rajarajeshwari Medical College and Hospital and the body was kept near his parents’ residence in Moodalapalya.Tavarekere police have registered an unnatural death case and are further investigating.
