The ghat road and the foot-way to Kailasagiri Hill Park in the city will be closed for visitors for a period of 10 days from August 1 on account of a project undertaken to widen curves along the route.

The visitors could make use of the rope-way, according to VUDA vice-chairman Kona Sasidhar. Kailasagiri, the most popular tourist spot in the city was developed by VUDA. It attracts tourists from all over the world.Thousands of people visit the tourist spot every day. The daily revenue ranges anywhere between Rs 25,000 to Rs 40,000. Another step way located on NH-5 at Hanumanthawaka junction was closed recently as it was being used by fewer visitors.

The 2-km ghat road has three curves. The gliding point curve is a very narrow hair-pin curve. The widening work has been taken up from the Toll Gate to Aditya Viewpoint.
