J&K govt orders probe in 'fake encounter'
J&K government ordered a judicial probe into the killing of a carpenter in an alleged fake encounter with police.

New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday ordered a judicial probe into the killing of a carpenter in an alleged fake encounter with police in Srinagar district.

The probe will be conducted by a high court judge, Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad told the state assembly.

Two policemen, ASI Farooq Ahmed Gudoo and Constable Farooq

Ahmed Padder were arrested for the killing of Abdul Rehman Paddar, a carpenter last month.

Ganderbal's Senior Superintendent of Police H S Parihar and Deputy Superintendent of Police Bahadur Ram were removed from active duty pending the completion of the probe.

Four policemen of the state were detained for questioning in connection with the disappearance of Paddar from police custody.

The policemen, who were posted with the Special Operations Group at Ganderbal at the time of Paddar's disappearance, were allegedly part of a team that claimed to have killed a Pakistani militant on December 9 last year, sources said.
