Srinagar: Northern Commander of the Indian Army Lt Gen Sanjiv Chachra said that the year 2013 was peaceful in Jammu & Kashmir, but there were huge number of ceasefire violations by Pakistan and also number of attempts of infiltration made from across the Border.

Addressing the media he said "entire year Pakistan Border action team planned many attack on Indian troops, but were foiled in most of the attempts. Therefore Pakistanis know the futility of doing this. We have faced two - three incidents. We have replied effectively"

However he said that the terrorist camps across the border are still active and they have infrastructure and capability to disturb peace in the state. Talking about future he said "2014 is challenging as American troops are leaving Afghanistan. But army is already making strategy and planning to counter any sort of infiltration".

Talking about Chinese incursion at Ladakh he said "all the things on border are normal. In case of any issue we have border mechanism in place to resolve any issue. Right now our focus is on infrastructure building to make our position more strong".
