The Pushkar rape case was taken a step forward when the victim was cross-examined by the defence on Monday.

Ajmer: A Japanese tourist who was allegedly raped at a Pushkar hotel last month, was cross-examined by the defence at a fast-track court on Monday.

She was questioned for around four hours by defence counsel Satya Narayan Sharma in continuation of the cross-examination which began on Friday.

The cross-examination would continue on Wednesday since Tuesday is a government holiday, court sources said.

The court of Mahaveer Prasad Sharma had recorded the woman's statement in English on May 23-25 after she agreed to the request of the defence lawyer regarding the same.

Earlier, the defence lawyer had requested the court to give 15 days' time to appoint an interpreter to record the woman's statements.

Four out of five accused in the case including the main accused Bablu, his mother Roshni, brother Raju and friend Raju alias Sahi had asked the court to transfer the case to another court.

However, the court said the matter was out of its jurisdiction.

In a fax message from Agra on April 18, the Japanese tourist had alleged that she was raped and robbed of Rs 54,000 after being drugged by hotel owner Bablu on April 2.
