New Delhi: The man behind the Java programming language, James Gosling is moving to Google. "Through some odd twists in the road over the past year, and a tardis encountered along the way, I find myself starting employment at Google," Gosling posted on his blog.

Gosling joined Sun Microsystems in 1984 but quit soon after the company was acquired by Oracle in 2010. He did not elaborate on his role at Google. "I don't know what I'll be working on. I expect it'll be a bit of everything, seasoned with a large dose of grumpy curmudgeon," he said.

At Sun, Gosling did the original design of the Java programming language and was also tthe Chief Technology Officer of Sun's Developer Products Group and the CTO of Sun's Client Software Group. He holds a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Calgary, Canada and also a PhD in Computer Science from Carnegie-Mellon University.

After his departure from Sun, Gosling turned down a number of job offers, before settling for the Internet giant Google. "One of the toughest things about life is making choices. I had a hard time saying 'no' to a bunch of other excellent possibilities. I find it odd that this time I'm taking the road more travelled by, but it looks like interesting fun with huge leverage," Gosling said in his blog post.
