Sagar Dhara, an environmental engineer, said “Some sections are suggesting establishment of more power plants (thermal and nuclear) while some others suggest establishment of large-scale solar and wind power projects. But we need to look beyond electricity because this is not merely an electricity production issue but it is an energy crisis. It is related to the management of land, water, minerals and other natural resources.’’ Timma Reddy , an energy analyst, said, ``Policies which promote nbridled exploitation of natural resources result in the breaking up of natural energy cycles.As a result, lakhs of poor people have been facing energy shortage for the past two decades and the resultant livelihood crisis. Therefore, there is an urgent need to look beyond electricity shortages and find holisticsolutions to the energy crisis that is prevalent in the state and country. NAPM joint convener Saraswati Kavula and B Ramakrishnam Raju were present.
